So long, Jim. In 2008 we lost a dear friend, husband, brother-in-law, father and advocate for justice, Jim Mendelsohn, who died after a struggle with cancer.

Jim lived to see his son, Daniel, accepted to Stanford. He was deeply proud. We miss you, Jim.

Sarah with her sister and mom wearing the famous reindeer necklaces.

Sarah and Art's mom, Phyllis, with Sarah's birthday cake. It was the big 5-0 for Sarah. Still no signs of aging. Must be all that NIA dancing.

Adrian and Jackson in Birmingham. December 2007.

Adrian with a smile. He turned 22 this year, and is a senior at ASU in Boone. His current passion is Community Exchange Systems (see link below), along with Ultimate Frisbee, alternative energy, and most recently ...

... strumming the guitar.

We're happy to have Art's Mom, Phyllis, living near us in Asheville. This year she took her whole extended family, including all 7 grandsons, to Quintana Roo on the east coast of Mexico for a week. See link below for photos of that amazing expedition.

Lucus, Max and Jackson on vacation in the Mayan Riviera.

Jackson and a few friends doing what they do best -- eating.

Art's new hobby is beekeeping. Here are the hives surrounded by a 6,000 volt electric fence to keep the bears out. (It's worked so far.)

Art with a frame of bees. You go, girls!

We're ever grateful for our community of friends.

Over Thanksgiving we had a visit from Art's friend Seth and his daughter, Leya, a bubbly busy 4 year old who charmed us all.

Our two aloof orange cats begrudingly welcomed a new addition to their world: our new dog, Tally.

High cuteness factor here.

Items chewed on so far include couch cushions, slippers, cardboard boxes, socks, firewood, and even a few dog chew toys.

Sarah grew a bountiful garden.

...and Art tinkered with his pond.

...more pond blooms...

...irises around the pond ...

...ok, I'm obsessed...

Blessings for the Solstice/Christmas/Chanukah/Obamana/ BuddhaDharma/HariRama Season, with all our love!
